Hello IAEI members, guests and interested parties. We are well into the New Year and I am beginning my travels to all of the chapter annual meetings. As I write this message, I am on my way to the great state of “Alaska,” the upper north. I am also looking forward over the next few months to attending all the other chapters. If there are any items you wish to discuss when I visit your chapter, please contact me and I will see what assistance I can provide. It has already been an interesting year. I have appointed additional committee chairs and members for communications, by-laws, and ELECTRICAL SAFETY. Due to actions at the International Board of Directors Meeting, many of these committees will be meeting March 7 & 8 at the Tri-chapter meeting in Portland, Oregon. The committees will be meeting to address changes in section and chapter procedures. I am asking the Board of Directors and committee members to assist with this process. As I visit each chapter’s annual meeting, I will be looking for 2011 code proposals for submittal to the NW Section Code Clearing Committee by July 31, 2008. The Section committee will review ALL proposals received from the local chapters and forward them to the International Code Committee for review. The International Board of Directors issued a challenge to all section code committees to provide code proposals. It is our opportunity to be a part of the code making process, but it can only be done with your involvement. All it takes is your proposal. Prove the NW Section’s IAEI members are willing to be active in the code making process and have their voices heard. If you are having problems completing a proposal, contact your chapter code committee or myself through the NW Section web page at nwiaei.org. Plans are under way for the 2008 NW Section meeting in Portland, Oregon, to be held September 14 -18, 2008 at the Red Lion Convention Center at Jantzen Beach in Portland. The planning committee will have registration and additional information posted on the NW Section and the Oregon Chapter page by early April. The section meeting will provide multiple educational seminars running consecutively with emphasis on emerging products. Respectfully, James Imlah NW Section President
